Disco Bob

This is Disco Bob and his artist, Henry.  Henry has been super obsessed with skeletons since the Halloween stores opened up this year.  He asks DAILY for his Daddy and I to find skeleton's online, get skeleton books, make stuffed skeletons, crochet skeletons, bead skeletons, you name it he wants to make it.  The other day he asked me, "Mommy can we look up how to make a polymer clay skeleton on YouTube?"  I prepared him for what may come by explaining that we have no idea if anyone has made a video of this, but we will look.  Lo and Behold we found Candace who HAD made such video and it made his day.

He watched that video over and over.  He asked Daddy and I to make him this skeleton and after 2 days of running out of time in the day, he took matters into his own hands.  The supplies were already at the house and he watched that video over and over until he was confident he could mold each bone, put the holes in them properly and wire them together.

He quoted things that Candace had said from the video and even told me, "Mom, Candace said that she wants to see my skeleton when I make it so can we email her?  Her email address is at the end of the video."  He is so proud of his skeleton and loved making it.  He has more excitement for it than he would if his Daddy or I would have just made it for him.  He even survived breaking one of the hands and having to reform and bake an entire new one before Disco Bob was complete.

Hell yeah I emailed Candace!  I wanted her to know that she fulfilled a niche that this 5 year old and this family appreciate so much.  I wanted her to know that with her instruction a 5 year old interpreted and formed the individual pieces of this skeleton to create a masterpiece.  I also wanted her to know how much he respected her for teaching him how to do this and how insistent he was that we email her photos of the skeleton.

This is Disco Bob saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  It is Henry's favorite photo of Disco Bob.  Saying the pledge is a very important part of Henry's day, being a new kindergartner, and I couldn't be more proud that of all the poses and things that Bob can do, Henry chose to have him say the Pledge of Allegiance.

This is the link for Candace's video on You Tube.  Feel free to watch it and give Candace a shout out!
